Wild and challenging Maya Bay

Maya BayWorldwide fame to this bay, lost in Phi Phi Island in the Indian Ocean, was provided by the director Danny Boyle, as he depicted this great and magnificent place in his blockbuster "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio. The action of the film happens exactly in this place, though let’s not forget about the film, but also see what a great place this Bay actually is. The film tells the story of the commune of people who have found paradise on earth and were living in isolation from the bustle of civilization. Events in the movie, of course, are fictional, but the metaphor of the "paradise" that was given to the Maya Bay was never exaggerated. The same beautiful, virgin and challenging places in the world are no more than a few - Kelimutu Lakes in Indonesia or fantastic Spanish Cabo da Gata Beach.

Magnificent scenery of Maya Bay

Bay on the island of Phi Phi is surrounded by three 100-meter cliffs which create a great filling of the strong nature and its great wonders, making you feel as a miserable human that is just trying to survive in the wonders of the bay. Its white sands run into the dense jungle, and the azure waters hide under magnificent coral reefs. Therefore the place is really picturesque and wild, making it a true pearl of the real nature in the heart of the world. No one artificial resort, even prominent Beach Sigayya or dramatic Crosby Beach, can be compared to wild Maya Bay.

Maya Bay

Untouched virgin of nature

The beach is included into the protected national park area. The reason for that was to preserve the beauty of the wild nature here and to save the place in its original way. Therefore you will not find any rooms or apartments for living in any area around it. If you look for comfortable rest with all facilities better choice could be Matira Beach in Bora Bora or Las Salinas Beach on Ibiza. Besides in these resorts you will not face any prohibitions.Even though the Maya Bay is open for tourists visits, they are not allowed to cook here or pollute the place.

Challenging way to paradise

The access to this paradise on Earth is pretty difficult, the Bay is enclosed in the sea, and therefore to get to Maya Bay you can only by the excursions to the island of Phi Phi, or by private boat, and food should be taken with you, as there is no infrastructure and therefore no shops or recreational places can be found there. It is a true pure, untouched nature and it truly deserves the time and effort to get here.

Maya Bay: secret of popularity

Inside the bay there are several beaches that exist only at low tide, in the other times the bay is filled with water. One of them, the most important beach, has the length of 200 meters with perfect blue water and beautiful coral reefs – and is therefore perfect for snorkeling.

The special interest to the beach Maya Bay on Phi Phi emerged after the debut of the film "The Beach" in 1999. Of course, most people have not heard of the existence of Phi Phi, but they already knew about Maya Bay. Since then, the number of tourists to this beach is much more abundant. Tours are never empty - boats are filled to overflowing, because people from all over the world want to see this place.

The best time to visit Maya Bay is only from November to April, as in other months pretty strong waves will make the trip dangerous. Even though the view of the place becomes a pretty amazing, as you can observe the riot of nature.

Magic of the deserted island

Despite in Maya Bay there are no spacious sandy beaches like in Malta Golden Bay or Paradise Beach of Maharashtra, the place is hugely popular with tourisis. All these months excursions attack Maya Bay and all the islands of Phi Phi, so if you want to enjoy the peace and beauty of this wonderful place, you have to arrive early in the morning or late at night by private boat. Even though the infrastructure here is almost dead, you can still manage to find toilets and a small souvenir shop a little further from the beach, therefore get yourself a small reminder of the magic of Phi Phi and a deserted island. Even though this might seem as too much, but be sure that this is all done to preserve the peace and cleanliness of the place, otherwise it would be virtually impossible.
